Laserdisco: 'Butty Box EP'

UT117
Released:  10th May 2010

Andrew Leary, creator of Relation’s album Fear of Night, returns to Urban Torque with “Butty Box”, his debut solo single as Laserdisco. Following his recent explorations of electronic indie-pop with Relation, Andrew has delved into the depths of music software and synthesis to produce the tempo-oscillating quantization experiment that is “Butty Box”. The track finds Andrew deploying wobbly chords, stuttering arpeggios, loopy synth bleeps and off kilter percussion to create a well executed slab of wonky electronica.  Also along for the ride is the more linear but similarly polyrhythmic excursion known as “Disconnect”, originally penned as a Relation b-side but now re-worked into a subtle tech-house gem.

Relation: 'Optimistic Remixes'

UT116D
Released:  26th April 2010

‘Optimistic’ is Relation’s second single from their debut album ‘Fear Of Night’. Critically acclaimed in Electronic music industry circles and buoyantly welcomed in the Indie sphere, Essex boys Andrew Leary and Oliver Keech have developed an alternative, unique sound by combining meaningful lyrics with synth-pop to create both emotional depth and electronic rhythms. Although the compositions are truly progressive and they embrace a futuristic approach to their productions, their music has brought comparisons to New Order and the Pet Shop Boys as well as a wink to Depeche Mode.
