"Debut EP BLEW Kyle and I away one day earlier this year. I remember posting this song on the blog and having 2/3rds of Binary call me to tell me how great the song is. Its the perfect example of a song that SOUNDS like a band but is obviously made by a couple of skilled electronic producers."

Tom Middleton: 'Hypnotizer Remixes'

Urban Torque® is very proud to have organized their first remix competition with our long time friend and supporter, Tom Middleton. The legendary Jedi’s first release on Urban Torque is now complimented with an array of new talent chosen by the man himself.  The Hypnotizer remix competition winners are Shinji Pons, Roland Nights and tONKPROJECT. French – Japanese Shinji Pons’ remix is his production debut, while Roland Nights aka Danny Stott makes his second appearance on the label. Romania’s tONKPROJECT aka Laurentiu Zarzu is thriving in this industry with releases on Plastic City, Proton and Elevation.

Roland Nights: 'Bright Light EP'

Danny Stott is a DJ / producer from the UK. He released his first productions in 2008 on several small, reputable labels such as 3am, Dutchie Music and Lost My Dog. He has also remixed artists like Scope and tONKPROJECT. For his first appearance on Urban Torque, after winning Tom Middleton’s ‘Hypnotizer’ remix competition, he releases his first productions under the alias Roland Nights: ‘Bright Light’ EP.

Originally appearing on our 2008 Sonar sampler, this eagerly awaited deep-house gem from Russia's Seva K, takes its place as our first Urban Torque® release in 2010 with remixes courtesy of fellow Russians, 2Siberian Headz and Vas Floyd. Having released music on Highway, Deepology and Elevation, and with a string of remixes under his belt,  Seva's releases have a hallmark of depth, warmth and musicality, whilst managing to keeping the beats firmly locked in the club. Fans of Seva's work include Laurent Garnier, Francois DuBois and Shur-i-Kan.

So after much diliberation, late nights and musing we have finally come to a decision on the remixes we like for the Tom Middleton 'Hypnotizer' remix competition. All in all we had 55 entries come deadline day, and the quality was high, and it's been an interesting process hearing all the different takes on Tom's track.
