The Ripple Effect - The Time Of New Order - Relation 'Fear Of Night'

"Coming to us from the newly discovered (my new discovery) UrbanTorque Label, Fear of Night infuse their post-New Order electro pop with the flavoring of many of the best of the ‘80’s techno bands.  Hints of the melodic candy of Duran Duran courses through the sequencer/synth drive of “Optomistic,” a song that makes it impossible not to move at least one part of your body in it’s pulsating beat.  “Fear of Night,” captures the essence of early Depeche Mode in it’s malevolent flavor.  Brewing over a smoldering mid-tempo beat, the synths surround the melody in syncopated harmony"

The Diogenes Club - Too Many Sebastians

toomanysebastians, have some very nice words for the Diogenes Club recently released '979' EP...

"Sometimes it’s really great when you discover good new music, this is the case with us and Welsh duo The Diogenes Club, after we posted the Cassette Club remix of Relation the nice guy at Relation’s label got in contact telling us that we might dig these guys and he wasn’t wrong. It didn’t take us long to fall in love with their dreamy sound, so laid-back and sophisticated and so easy on the ears. If you’ve been feeling the whole ‘DreamWave’ sound then you’re going to love these guys. We’re posting a cut from their ‘979 Ep’ and we think it’s absolutely fantastic"

Laserdisco: 'Butty Box EP'

UT117
Released:  10th May 2010

Andrew Leary, creator of Relation’s album Fear of Night, returns to Urban Torque with “Butty Box”, his debut solo single as Laserdisco. Following his recent explorations of electronic indie-pop with Relation, Andrew has delved into the depths of music software and synthesis to produce the tempo-oscillating quantization experiment that is “Butty Box”. The track finds Andrew deploying wobbly chords, stuttering arpeggios, loopy synth bleeps and off kilter percussion to create a well executed slab of wonky electronica.  Also along for the ride is the more linear but similarly polyrhythmic excursion known as “Disconnect”, originally penned as a Relation b-side but now re-worked into a subtle tech-house gem.

Relation: 'Optimistic Remixes'

UT116D
Released:  26th April 2010

‘Optimistic’ is Relation’s second single from their debut album ‘Fear Of Night’. Critically acclaimed in Electronic music industry circles and buoyantly welcomed in the Indie sphere, Essex boys Andrew Leary and Oliver Keech have developed an alternative, unique sound by combining meaningful lyrics with synth-pop to create both emotional depth and electronic rhythms. Although the compositions are truly progressive and they embrace a futuristic approach to their productions, their music has brought comparisons to New Order and the Pet Shop Boys as well as a wink to Depeche Mode.
