Pezzner: 'Logan EP'
UT098Released: 29th June 2009
Seattle’s Pezzner is the new darling of deep house. If you needed any more proof of his worth, the ‘Logan EP’ is corroborating evidence. Masterfully produced with refreshing tenderness and feeling, the EP brings together bobbing grooves, hypnotic percussion and strong melodies to bedazzling effect. Guilty as charged, Your Honour.
1. ‘Too Many Of You’ – Left-field deep house that forms a barrage of mesmeric sound occasionally giving way to light lofty melody.
2. ‘Logan’ – Sultry and hypnotic percussive house that teases and seduces with snap openings of reprieve.
Dave Pezzner cut his chops as Jacob London with partner Bob Hansen, creating eccentric house and break-beat rhythms. In 2008 Pezzner took to his own studio to begin work on his first solo output composing songs that are more serious, with an abstract artistic sensibility. It wasn’t long before Freerange Records scooped up his first two EPs, ‘Other Lover’ and the epic three-part masterpiece ‘Almost Here’, and OM Records signed the follow-up ‘Jouets Fantastiques’. Pezzner also has an arsenal of heavyweight remixes lined-up for artists such as Josh Wink, Mark Farina, and Mike Monday. Now that Pezzner’s stepped out on his own, he’s definitely got a lot to say.
